In 1964, at 7 years of age I so was taken by the beauty and man made creativity of the Jungle Ride, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House at Disneyland California that I knew this was my future career.
Growing up in a creek side canyon home in Santa Barbara was the perfect opportunity for me to build my own Tom Sawyer island with a tree house, rope swings, tunnels, ponds and waterfalls and a miniature golf course. This is where my creative mind sparked and came to life with a ‘nothing is impossible’ vision.
To add to my inspiration, my natural born desire drew me to beautiful nature locations that included extreme sports such as surfing, snow skiing, and water skiing to name a few. Going from exotic islands to 15,000 foot mountain peaks became my normal daily life. I thought everyone lived this way.
By the time I was 15 my personal art creations were selling to random people that happened upon my work . At this time I was reeling in more money than my high school teachers so I figured why bother wasting my time in school when I can be surfing in Hawaii every day while creating more art to sell. So, during the 10th grade at San Marcos High School I pulled the principal and my teachers into a meeting with my parents attending, and I told my teachers they were all fired. Without flinching, days later I was surfing on the island of Maui Hawaii.
This bold commitment was the beginning of a journey to my unknown future.
To think, this unplanned 40 year adventure led me to the most interesting locations working as an artist for some of the most famous celebrities, Fortune 500 executives, entertainment executives, casinos, zoos, theme parks, aquariums, museums and the list goes on…
As I look back at this 40 year adventure of travel, adventure, and creations, there are no regrets and only my feeling of glee and satisfaction all stemmed from an attitude of breaking the rules while thinking outside of the box while using good judgment and making mostly good decisions.
Now at 60 and retired from major projects and travel, it is my passion to share with others my decades of working in the field of design and creating. If you desire a career as a professional artist or just have an interest creating for yourself, it is my pleasure to teach all aspects of this type of vision.
